The International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (IC2UHI), first held in 2006 in Tokyo, Japan, has since become a global platform for sharing knowledge and solutions to one of the most pressing urban environmental challenges of our time. Over the years, the conference has been hosted at various cities, including Berkeley (California), Venice (Italy), Singapore, Hyderabad (India), and Melbourne (Australia), gathering experts and stakeholders from diverse fields to explore innovative strategies for mitigating urban heat island (UHI) effects.
As we continue to face the growing challenges posed by urban heat islands, it is clear that an interdisciplinary framework is essential. This approach should integrate insights from diverse fields such as energy, health, building design, urban planning, air quality management, and human studies. By considering the synergies between these disciplines, we can develop more comprehensive and effective solutions.
The 7th International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (7th IC2UHI), to be held in Nanjing, China promises to be a significant milestone in this ongoing effort. The conference will focus on the science, design, engineering, and public policies related to the interdisciplinary nature of effectively addressing UHI challenges. This year, we invite scientists, academics, engineers, architects, builders, policymakers, and government officials from around the world to come together and share their insights, research findings, and real-world experiences in tackling urban heat islands.
The 7th IC2UHI Conference will cover a wide range of themes, ensuring that the discussions reflect the most recent advancements and evidence-based strategies for mitigating UHI effects. The diverse range of the conference topics will help broaden the scope of knowledge and inspire new approaches to designing more sustainable, resilient, and livable cities. Together, we can build a future where urban areas are better equipped to cope with the effects of climate change and contribute to the well-being of their inhabitants.
We look forward to your participation in what promises to be an impactful gathering of minds dedicated to shaping the future of our cities.
