Sci-ImageMiner 2026: Information Extraction from Atomic Layer Deposition/Etching (ALD/E) Scientific Figure
The proceedings of the Sci-ImageMiner ICDAR 2026 competitions compile the contributions of participating teams, providing a structured and peer-reviewed record of the diverse approaches developed for information extraction and reasoning from ALD/E scientific figures across multiple tasks. Their primary purpose is to document not only the top-performing methods on the leaderboard, but also the underlying ideas, design choices, and empirical insights that led to these results. This is particularly important because competition rankings alone do not capture the full spectrum of scientific progress, such as robustness, generalization, and failure analysis. By bringing together these works, the proceedings create a valuable resource for the community, enabling reproducibility, fostering comparison across methodologies, and encouraging deeper understanding of the challenges in classification, summarization, data extraction, and visual question answering. Ultimately, this collection contributes to advancing the field by transforming competition outcomes into lasting, citable knowledge that can guide future research in multimodal reasoning using scientific figures.
